Midnight MIS by Virtual Systems (now Print Reach) has been a comprehensive web-based solution for mid and large-sized printers, mailers, and marketers, offering features from estimates to invoicing with mobile CRM apps, integrated mail/postage capabilities, and scheduling calendars. Some users report impressive results, with one shop increasing profits by over $30,000 in the first year, and customer support is described as very responsive and helpful.

However, some print shop owners are exploring alternatives due to:

Severe performance and speed issues — Multiple users report the cloud-based system is "extremely slow" with connections frequently lagging, significantly impacting productivity during critical estimate and order entry workflows
Disastrous implementation experiences — Users describe setup as "brutal and never worked correctly," with some shops abandoning key features entirely after implementation failures, wasting significant time and money invested in the transition
Unusable core features — The CRM system is described as "useless" and the quote module "so complex we never used it," meaning shops pay for comprehensive functionality but can only reliably use basic features
Painful pricing maintenance — With print industry pricing changing every 30-45 days, users find it "extremely painful to update pricing in the system," creating ongoing administrative burden and pricing accuracy risks
Cloud dependency limitations — Being entirely cloud/internet-based means any internet connectivity issues completely halt operations, and the inherent latency of cloud systems compounds the performance problems users experience

If you're frustrated by slow performance that impacts your quoting speed, need a system that actually works correctly after implementation, or want features you can actually use rather than pay for, the alternatives below offer more reliable solutions with better performance and usability for print and mail operations.
